Our Mission at Cowboy Church is to reach people for Christ using our western and cowboy heritage, to eliminate “religious barriers” and to help each other in finding and following Christ as Lord and Savior.
We exist to change the wandering into followers, and followers into leaders.
Based upon the Great Commission, Matthew 28: 19-20 & The Great Commandment, Mark 12: 29-31. To be used by God to help bring lost people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to grow them into the image of Christ through continuing discipleship.
What We Believe
I. The Doctrine of Christ
Christ is the Son of God and the 2nd person of the Trinity. He was born of a virgin yet conceived by the Holy Spirit. He took His human nature upon His own shoulders in order to completely identify with humanity and to live a sinless life in human flesh. His obedience to the will of God and His death on the cross was the provision for all of humankind to have redemption from sin.He was raised from the dead with the keys of the kingdom and all power in His hands. He ascended to Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. He will return to judge the world and to complete His mission of redemption.
II. The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the 3rd person of the Trinity. He is the inspiration of the writers of the Scriptures. He enables each of us to understand truth as it is revealed in the Scriptures. He is the One who convicts us of our sins and the One who calls us to salvation. It is the Holy Spirit who works in the hearts of humanity to bring about regeneration and restoration. He is the One who works diligently to cultivate the character of every believer. He fosters service to God through the church by the distribution of spiritual gifts as He sees fit.It is His presence that gives each believer the assurance of God that he/she will be brought into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He is both the enlightenment and the empowerment of every believer and the church to worship God, evangelize the unsaved and to perform Christian service.
III. The Doctrine of the Church
The church is a local body of believers who have been baptized through immersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These believers are brought together by a covenant that has been created in the faith and fellowship of the Gospels. This body observes the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as instituted by Christ and are committed to His teaching. This body exercises the gifts and privileges as found in the Word and is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission.
Each church body is autonomous. Each church operates through a democratic process under the leadership and authority of Jesus Christ. Each member is equally responsible for the workings and operations of the church. The church officers are pastors and deacons.
Finally, the church is the body of Christ.
IV. The Doctrine of Eschatology
Jesus Christ will, true to His promise, return to the earth.Christ will return visibly in His full glory to the earth. At this time the dead will be raised.Christ will judge all of humankind in righteousness. The unrighteous will be punished and sentenced to an eternity in Hell. Those who are righteous will be resurrected in their glorified bodies to reign with Him.The righteous will receive their reward.
